“When we fail to set boundaries and hold people accountable, we feel used and mistreated. This is why we sometimes attack who they are, which is far more hurtful than addressing a behavior or choice. For our own sake, we need to understand that it’s dangerous to our relationships and our well-being to get mired in shame and blame, or to be full of self-righteous anger. It’s also impossible to practice compassion from a place of resentment . If we’re going to practice acceptance and compassion, we need boundaries and accountability.”—Brené Brown - The Gifts of Imperfection
i graduated from college. (woo?) then i had an interview for my practicum next year and then orientation for grad school and then worked a bunch of double shifts in a row.
then i had a day off I went shopping for new interview clothes. I got a shirt that i can wear with a skirt I already own and then also got a few other things that just looked too cute on me not to buy. It’s a rare thing that I find things that look adorable so I have to buy them when they come up. and then went back to my parent’s house for a second interview for practicum.
so next year I’ll be working with this pretty cool dude at a really nice high school / middle school doing school social work stuff with mostly regular education kids who just need some extra help. I was told to bring candy and a willingness to talk to teenagers. I’m actually pretty thrilled about it because these positions are sort of hard to get and also because it’s 20 minutes from where I’ll be living and my supervisor is pretty neat and chill. I think it will be cool. I’ll be there like 2 days a week and I’ll get to run group sessions and then a special interest thing of my choosing. no clue what I would do though. like what are my interests? hey kids, sign up to look at cute kittens on the internet with me for an hour ever week!! hey, let’s get together and watch old episodes of tv and talk about them!! or let’s take a nap and pretend we are doing something productive!! so yeah, not sure about that part…
